iPhone OS 4 announced
Apple has announced the details of the iPhone’s new operating system, the iPhone OS 4, which will be available to use on Apple iPhones and iPod Touches this summer.
Apple claims that the new operating system will provide more than 100 new features, including iBooks, the new ebook reader and online Apple bookstore that debuted on the Apple iPad. The main feature being “Multitasking”. After attending the online Keynotes today I can’t help but wonder if the lack luster of MAC releases of late, is at the stage where we are no longer impressed and are waiting for something more?
Unlike the original iPhone 3 keynote, the feeling in the room was somewhat lacking the enthusiasm of its predecessor, and Steve Jobs talked on about the apps on iPhone, which is no longer a wow element – it’s now standard vocab, and perhaps we are wanting more? Or maybe it is the fact that you can’t help but notice Mr Job’s physical state which is alarming given what he used to look like, and I find myself more captivated by his stature alone in comparison to what it used to be, and tend to forget what it is we are supposed to be looking at.
Is is worth upgrading?
I believe so, but it is always recommended that you wait till at least three months after its market debut. Other than multi-tasking, the 3 and 3GS is still as good, unless there is something we don’t know.
