A story posted over at PCMag.com by Angela Moscaritolo reports the follwing about the possibility that Apple are in fact, building a TV that will no doubt have all the wow that only Apple can Generate!

Foxconn, Apple’s leading Asian manufacturing partner, is gearing up to make the much talked-about, high-definition Apple television set, according to a new report.

China Daily is reporting that Foxconn Chief Terry Gou said during a recent news conference in Shanghai that his company has been making preparations to start producing Apple’s TV set, though development and manufacturing of the device has not yet begun. This “iTV” will reportedly feature an aluminum body, the voice-activated virtual assistant Siri, and FaceTime video calling.

Meanwhile, Cult of Mac this week claimed to have a source who has seen a working prototype of the forthcoming TV set. Cult of Mac’s unnamed source said the prototype resembles Apple’s current Cinema Display monitors — only much larger, and has Siri along with a built-in iSight camera for making FaceTime video calls.

The iSight camera is quite sophisticated, with facial-recognition technology and the ability to zoom in on a user’s face and even follow them around the room. This means users will be able to make a video call from across the living room, instead of having to sit directly in front of the TV. And, they will reportedly be able to initiate the call with Siri.

No word yet on when the rumored device will be released or how much it will cost.

Rumors about an Apple-based television set have been making the rounds since last year after Walter Isaacson’s Steve Jobs biography mentioned that the late Apple co-founder was working on an Apple-branded TV before his death on Oct. 5. Apple, however, has made no announcements.

Those of you hoping to snag an Apple-produced television set this holiday season might be out of luck. JP Morgan analyst Mark Moskowitz said recently that an Apple-branded TV set will likely appear “in years, not quarters.” But Moskowitz’s projections differ from that of Peter Misek, an equity analyst with Jefferies, who said in March that production on an Apple TV set could begin in May or June for a late-2012 launch.

In related news, Foxconn said recently that it will share the initial costs of improving working conditions at its factories with Apple.

…is the end of Adobe Flash near?

Not by anyone’s standards! Ok, so lets clear up some questions we have been getting a lot of via our support system, and also from random conversations we have had with clients, and industry buffs alike. This debate and rumour has been buzzing around the net since the infamous (if you did not hear about it, you must have been living under a rock on Mars) fall out over Apple’s support for HTML5 and dismissal for allowing Flash on iOS (iPhone, iPod-Touch, and iPad).

Is Flash Dead?

Not quite. Its universal appeal to web developers has certainly dropped since the announcement and deployment of the iPhone 4 SDK. In short, Apple gave HTML5 a higher profile when they announced they would be supporting the new “Web Standards” completely, and simply refused to allow Flash Applications to run natively on their iOS for mobile devices, or allow 3rd party tools for creating applications on iOS (this has since changed as of Sep 11). In the commotion that followed, the greater Flash Community revolted against such a notion that HTML5 could possibly replace Flash as a means for rich media presentation.

At the end of the day, the argument from Apple’s perspective was more about Flash chewing away at the battery life of their Mobile product, that the CPU usage was over the top. Adobe on the other hand argued that Apple should have worked with them to find a better solution to this (common) issue; Apple actually had many times before, asked that this be addressed and further more, fixed…

So what does this all mean?

Well, in order for your sites to work on all devices, Flash simply will not work. When you consider that Apple Smart-Phones (iPhone) and Apple Tablets (iPad) dominate the current market in the mobile industry, it becomes a question of “To Flash or Not to Flash”, mainly because Flash simply does not run on any of these devices. If your target market is Android, which has lost a lot of ground in the last 12 months because of issues that seem to plague any device running it, then you can use Flash without fear of your site not showing on an Android Mobile Phone or Tablet.

My site is a Flash site, or has Flash components, what should we do?

Depending on the complexity of your Flash site, or Flash component – we can produce a non-Flash based site that comes close to mimicking what your Flash site does, all in HTML5. Lets face it, Flash achieves Rich Media experiences that cannot be rivaled by any other platform on the web today. HTML5 cannot do a third of the functions that Flash can achieve. With that said, it is a matter of choice and one that depends on the market you wish to meet or engage.

What would be recommended?

We recommend that, if you want to have a Flash based site that is media rich, and database driven; you consider having an option of an HTML based version for any device that does not support Flash. If Flash is not imperative to the way you wish to portray your online presence, we need not enter into a discussion as the choice is simple – you will get a non flash based site.

Do you still offer Flash sites, or Flash development?

Absolutely, we do – as long as you are aware of the non-support some of these devices do not allow for, then we are more than happy to produce your site or element in Flash. Please contact us if you have any further questions.

When the segment finished playing, about a hundred voices all said “wow”. Scott Pointon is a contestant for “Find a Star on GMNZ”, and he just nails the song “So Sick” by Ne-Yo. Scott is not imitating the famous artist, he has a natural R&B voice.

Little Snapper

Described by MacWorld Magazine as: “LittleSnapper is an indispensable application for all web designers”

We could not agree more! Mac comes with its own Screen Capture function using CMD+Shift+3 or CMD+Shift+4 (select an area to capture), but the annoying thing about this feature, is that your screen shots are placed directly onto your desktop. This may not sound much like an issue, but if you are like us, and need to screen capture client sites, or IT Support, your Desktop can become cluttered quikcly.
This is where LittleSnapper saves the day, or mess! LittleSnapper makes it easy to take Full Screen shots, Selection Area Screen Capture, or a Screen Capture of a website using the URL function. The easy to use interface allows for rapid folder creation, and building your Screen Capture library a breeze. The small cost will save you hours of laborious Folder organisation. Once you use LittleSnapper, you will never use another Screen Capture Application again.

Get it on the Mac App Store

Cost: $39.00 USD

CandyBar

CandyBar 3 brings the best of CandyBar 2 and Pixadex combined into one new application. CandyBar. What CandyBar does is, allows you to easily customize your OSX+ system icons.

Why is this considered a must have app for Designers? Because most designers we know like their Mac Desktop to look as customised and as individual as possible – CandyBar allows you to do this without knowing a single line of Code or knowledge of how to manually change icons on the OSX+. You can import, organize and search huge numbers of icons quickly and easily, making it a breeze to find the right icon.

Get CandyBar

Pixelmator 2

Our absolute FAVOURITE Designer App. For designers who cannot afford Adobe Photoshop, this amazing app packs a punch for its cost. We originally posted our thoughts on Pixelmator when it was released back in 2010; our impression has not changed – it just got better. We first heard about Pixelmator via the Aduzeebo Website Tutorial on creating a Bokeh background image. We bought a copy direct for the Pixelmator Website if anything to complete the Tutorial, and were so impressed by what it could do, we use it daily to add effects to our client sites and images.

We promise if you buy this App, you will be more than impressed with its capabilities.

Download the Pixelmator App from the Mac App Store

Cost: $31.99

BoxShot 3D

Ever wanted to quickly create a 3D Packaging Image? Or a brochure fold preview? BoxShot 3D is the app for you…and so much more. The time this app saves you from having to create a 3D box or page render for your products is simply “amazing”!

Extremely easy to use, BoxShot 3D comes in both Mac and Windows flavours, each stage of the process of creating your 3D render is supported by “step-by-step” tabs that quickly guide you through the entire creation process. Output image support for most formats, it even supports CMYK output – this to us is one of the strongest feature especially for Print Designers!

Here are just a few samples of what this great app can do:

Chin up, shoulders back. Look at me, now look away…just be natural. Oh yeah, and don’t forget to smile!

Flipping through magazines I seldom stop to consider photos from a model’s point of view. There always seems to be more pressing matters like looking for key messages and meaning in the image or ad.

Until last Friday, I have taken for granted the fact that the stunning, effortless or otherwise interesting looking models before me had to work hard and need the help of something pretty special to look that good, or that ‘natural’.

Appropriately, the digital world is about to get it’s own platform that will showcase how digital media is used (and bent) with the Adobe Master Suite, and some extremely ingenious uses of the products we use as developers every day.

Check it out, there is a prelude video, and the announcement of the first Digital Media Artist: Tony Ourlser, a truly incredible Digital Artist, the showcase of his work speaks for itself.

What can we say? Except Finally, a return to the original MK roots! Check out this promo Video for the prelaunch of Mortal Kombat. The return of Fatalities is just the best news since …well…MK3 showcased on PS1 and Super NES. New feature, X-Ray Damage, totally cool, each character with its own unique damage direction. Cyrax looks off the hook, and Kung Lao’s Hat Rotator Saw Fatality is “sick” (awesome). The Arena’s of old make a welcomed returned, but tuned up to look how they should have looked had the technology been available 15 years ago.

Now, if only Ed Boone would bring back SubZero of MK3 Fame, then I would be one happy Kombatant.
